Informatica Developer Job Description:  Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

 

DCPDS Job Description:  This position is dedicated to the ongoing support of the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) Enterprise Human Resource application and related systems supporting over 800,000+ DoD civilian personnel records and users. DCPDS is a highly available 24/7, mission critical, computing infrastructure.

Candidate will participate in all phases of Informatica SW development to include: requirements and mapping definition, high level design, detailed design, development, COTS HW/SW and system integration. Candidate must have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment to achieve long-range goals and objectives.  A successful candidate will be a self-starter, have an inquisitive attitude, and successfully solve problems. Candidate must have the ability to interact and work collaboratively with a diverse set of users (developers, testers, administrators, team leads, management, system users, etc.). Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical knowledge/expertise to support the requirements definition, design, and development of data warehouse components/subsystems, specifically Extract-Transform-Load or Extract-Load-Transform technologies and implementations (PowerCenter) and/or Change Data Capture technologies and implementations (PowerExchange)
  • Research, design, develop, and modify the ETL and related database functions, implementing changes/enhancements to the system
  • Design ETL processes and develop source to target data mappings, workflows, and load processes.
  • Develop, test, integrate and deploy ETL routines using ETL tools and external programming/scripting languages, as necessary.
  • Administer and maintain the ETL environment, including performing configuration management activities related to the ETL environment
  • Research, design, develop, and modify the Change Data Capture (CDC) and related functions
  • Design CDC processes and develop associated processes.
  • Develop, test, integrate and deploy CDC routines using CDC tools and programming/scripting, as necessary.
  • Administer and maintain the ETL/CDC environment, including performing configuration management activities related to the ETL/CDC environment
  • Participate as needed in the deployment of system upgrades/updates, software patches/releases, and configuration changes
  • Consider configuration management, security, quality control in designs/implementations
  • Resolve requests for assistance in troubleshooting issues assigned to the development team
  • Support functional/regression testing activities in support of system functionality releases, patches and upgrades
  • Document, track, and update System Change Requests and Problem Reports
  • Analyze process improvement areas/recommend changes to processes/procedures for efficiencies/cost-savings/etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and deploying ETL and/or CDC solutions (utilizing Informatica PowerCenter and/or PowerExchange)
  • Database programming skills
  • Experience with Data warehouse technologies including ETL Data transformation and Data Aggregation
  • Experience in best practices design of ETL implementations in a high volume environment, including ETL software, database and tuning.
  • Experience in best practices design of CDC implementations in a high volume environment, including CDC software, database and tuning.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS
  • Experience with Oracle EBS (E-Business Suite)
  • Knowledge of underlying Oracle ERP applications database architecture
  • Knowledge of Oracle database and development tools (PL/SQL, SQL Plus, Forms, Reports, JDeveloper, Java, Framework, and JSP)
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management tools (e.g. PVCS)
  • Related domain knowledge (human resources)
  • Experience in web-based application development using HTML, JavaScript and Java; web services (WSDSL/SOAP/XML)
  • Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing methodologies
  • Experience in designing, writing, and maintaining Linux Operating System Shell scripts and utilizing Linux system utilities (e.g. crontab)

 

Education/Experience Minimum:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9+ years of professional experience; or 7+ years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Considered an emerging authority.

 

DoD Security Requirements:  This position is only open to US Citizens.

 

Authority/Accountability: The successful candidate will be a part of a small working group and will report directly to the project Task Leader.
