Software Engineer Associate Job Description: Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

 

 

DCPDS Job Description: Responsible for creating functional and automation test scripts for enterprise, web, and mobile technology.   Test related activities also include front-end, back-end, performance/load and regression testing of various software solutions.  Scope of testing will include Oracle HR and internally developed web systems.  The Software Engineer Asc must accomplish significant interaction with several teams to include project managers, software developers, other testers, and the customer.

 

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to plan, execute and report results of task
  • Strong writing skills
  • Good experience with different Operating Systems, with emphasis on Linux/Windows variants
  • Strong experience with end-to-end SDLC, testing methodologies and test phases, including unit, assembly, system, integration, regression and performance testing
  • Ability to create accurate and detailed test-cases and test scripts
  • Ability to analyze and translate requirements and development stories into test scripts
  • Strong working knowledge of QA processes and methodologies
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, and apply them accurately through an evolving, dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working under deadlines with minimal supervision

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability aptitude in logical and analytical thinking, as well as display strong problem solving skills with experience in using diagnostic tools
  • Experience using HP Quality Center or like tool for test and defect management
  • Software Engineer / Computer Science or related
  • Experience in developing/scripting in common languages like VB, JAVA, PERL, C++, etc.
  • Experience in web-services and interface testing
  • Experience working within an agile development process (Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.) from the test design, test automation, and execution perspective
  • Working knowledge of object oriented programming
  • Experience testing web-based applications using a number of desktop and mobile browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.)

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Entry level.

 

Authority/Accountability: The successful candidate will be a part of a small working group and will report directly to the project Task Leader.
