System Engineer

Position Overview
DTSI is seeking a Systems Engineer (Application Packaging and Development) to join our team at the Maxwill AFB Gunther Annex in Montgomery, Alabama.  In this position you will work with a team of engineers and technicians on the Windows Application packaging, deployment, administration, and engineering of Air Force desktops and devices.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) / Government off the Shelf (GOTS) software application packages for automated enterprise deployment for Windows client/server systems across large enterprise networks utilizing up to date technologies to include Windows Operating Systems (to include installation, configuration, security, integration and dependencies of all types), System Center Configuration Manager (versions 2012 and above), Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and other software deployment solutions. 
  • Plan, develop, implement, and troubleshoot scripts to enable, manage and maintain application packages. 
  • Generate, assemble and test software as required to integrate both COTS and GOTS applications. 
  • Utilize tools to develop and edit PowerShell scripts, Microsoft Installers (MSIs) and other custom actions for application packages. 
  • Manage product delivery schedules, develop/update internal test scripts of products, complete project engineering reviews, perform product/project risk analysis, provide configuration management artifacts and meet overall product delivery dates. 
  • Consider application virtualization processes to isolate and/or mitigate application incompatibility with customer standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • In-depth skills in Windows OS/Application packaging, deployment, administration, engineering, troubleshooting and overall support
  • Scripting experience with Microsoft PowerShell and other languages is essential 
  • Experience in implementing, administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy is essential

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  •  Experience with Hyper-V
  • Experience with SCCM/other enterprise application deployment solutions
  • Knowledge of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a comparable Technical Field; with minimum of three years related experience
  • If no bachelor’s degree an additional two years of experience may substitute for a total of five years related experience 

DoD Security

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification: Security+ce
